Mycoplasma hominis native antigens

Mycoplasma hominis is a bacterium belongs to the Mycoplasmataceae family. The uniqueness of this microorganism lies in the absence of a cell wall and its very small size. Mycoplasma hominis is an opportunistic pathogen in humans and can cause infections of varying severity, most commonly of the genitourinary tract, joints, and less commonly of the bloodstream. Diagnostics usually involves isolating the pathogen in a selective diagnostic medium; it is a fairly sensitive method, but requires several days of incubation and proper collection of clinical material. Another common diagnostic method is the polymerase chain reaction. Serological testing for the presence of antibodies to the pathogen is also often used in clinical practice.
